Seymour 14 def by Swans 34

After a cold start in the morning in Shepp the defensive work of the girls was amazing, creating many turnovers.

Isabel Meller, Eden Webster and Eva Hay all stood out against a quality opposition.

The Lions continue to get better, reducing the margin from 32 goals against the Swans earlier in the year to just 20.

Matilda Barry did an outstanding job, running out in centre.

Sophie Butterworth had a ripper game. Her movement in the circle and prelims were impeccable. Sophie shot at 80 per cent accuracy and deservedly was awarded best on.

Ella Zotti yet again worked tirelessly in the middle of the court. Her communication and leadership allowed the Lions to flow seamlessly through the court.

Lilli Kelly took some great intercepts down our defensive end. She created great pressure and was a threat in the circle.

In a scrappy first term, neither side was able to put a major on the board with the Lions kicking the only goal of the second quarter. The contest evened up in the third with the game in the balance at the final break before Seymour was able to kick three unanswered goals in the last to win the game. Despite going down early with an injury, Jack Radford battled through to kick three crucial goals, with Jonty Mann working hard around the ground. The engine room of Taiten Thomas, Joel Badger and Sam House were influential in the final outcome, going hard at the footy all day to drive the Lions forward. Joel Durham continued his hot run of form, standing up in the final quarter, working tirelessly in the ruck and taking contested marks around the ground. A great win for the Lions. In a tight first term the Lions were able to get a lead before dominating the second term and taking a comfortable lead into the major break. The Swans bounced back in the third, with everything to play for in the final term. It was all one way traffic from early in the last as the Lions dominated general play and finished the match with a comfortable four goal win. Riley Mason was dominant up forward with the Swans having no answers for him in the air or around the ground. Nick Dundon played his best game of the season, providing plenty of run from half back while the midfield combination of James Wooster, Jack Murphy and Jack Peris gelled to great effect. Kyabram kicked five goals in the first quarter with Seymour struggling to move the ball forward. After the first break it was a different story with the Lions winning the final three quarters on the scoreboard and taking it right up to a high quality opposition. Unfortunately, the slow start left the Lions with too much to do, going down by 13 points. Will Le Deux was by far the best player on the ground, dominating around stoppages, finding space and kicking four goals from the middle. Cam Osmond won plenty of footy further up the ground while Joel Durham battled hard all day in the ruck without any respite. Sam Fuhrmeister took on a tough job down back and held his own, with Ollie Munro providing a target in the forward half of the ground. A big thank you to the Under 18s boys who stood up and filled in. Hugh Murphy kicked a great goal and Lachlan Donnelly completed a run down tackle for the ages. Seymour was right in the game early, gaining an early lead before going into the first break just 3 points down. From there it was all one was traffic with the Lions going down by 86 points. In some good news, Nic Quigg made a successful return, kicking a couple of goals to go with plenty of disposals. Lachlan Beattie was tenacious in the back half and even managed to kick his first goal for the Lions late in the day. His attack on the footy and tenacity was matched by Darcy Giles and Lachy Giles who played an important role through the middle of the ground.
