While the girls were able to generate plenty of turnovers, they weren’t able to capitalise on these. Today’s award went to Georgia Hadisutanto for being able to dictate and delay her player’s movement down the court. Café 96 Award: Georgia Hadisutanto Trawool Shed - Cafe, Cottages & Restaurant UNDER 17s Seymour 45 def United 33 Ella Zotti set the pace in the game, chasing every loose ball and creating turnovers from the pressure she created. Ella was crucial in the game and played with great intensity. Paige Cooper worked hard in the defensive circle, hunting down all the long balls and taking great, clean intercepts. Sophie Butterworth shot 37 of 45 goals in today’s game. Her precision and accuracy was on point and she worked hard to get front position. All the Lions worked well together and created pressure, causing some team turnovers. The girls are excited to bring the same energy into the next two games to secure a finals position. O’Sullivan Builders Award: Ella Zotti O’SULLIVAN BUILDERS B RESERVE Seymour 43 def United 37 It was a goal for goal tussle between the top two teams on the ladder. The second quarter saw some great defensive work by Sarah Waite and Ruby Trimble giving Seymour a two goal load going into the third quarter. United come out strong in the third to take the lead midway. Seymour’s attackers and accurate passes into the ring with great shooting by Shona Gesler and Mia Allen helped Seymour get out to a five goal lead. The Lions maintained composure in the final quarter and finished with a six goal win. Whistle Award: Ruby Trimble Seymour Hardware Group B GRADE Seymour 51 def United 35 We struggled to connect in the first quarter but improved in the second half. The Lions were able to gain a nice lead in each quarter of the game. A strong point was the ability of the team to capitalise on early turnovers, taking the game on. The mid court worked hard to get the ball to our shooters. Well done to Ashlyn Webster on getting the award today and welcome back Madi Hager. Inari Sushi Award: Ashlyn Webster Beer Auto Group Seymour A GRADE Seymour 50 def United 46 From the start of the game Bridie Cantwell and Sarah Szczykulski made United work overtime to get the ball to the circle. Ally Black showed great vision in WA, with Ruby Martin and Ellie Fuhrmeister creating strong movements to get to goal. A close second quarter brought the pressure with the Lions having to work strategically to hold the lead. A really strong third quarter allowed the Lions to break away on the scoreboard to record a great win.

The Seymour Football Netball Club (SFNC) has announced its first re-signings for 2026 with a group of five key players putting pen to paper. Current Senior Co-Coach Jack Murphy headlines the group, returning next season after a dominant year so far. Fellow midfielders Nathan Beattie, reigning Senior Best & Fairest winner, and Nic Quigg, VFL listed inside mid, have also both signed on the dotted line. Key forward Nathan Fowler will bring up 50 Senior games in his next outing for the Lions and will be back for his fourth year at The Den in 2026. Rounding out the five is Huw Jones, who has missed the entire 2024 season after a knee reconstruction, but will be ready to go come Round 1 2026. SFNC President Peter Elliott said these re-signings demonstrate the strong belief within the playing group about the list's potential. “We’re thrilled to have these five boys back on board for next season. It sends a clear message that we’re serious about challenging the very best teams in the league,” Mr Elliott said. “Jack Murphy has been outstanding as our Senior Co-Coach this year and his passion is unmatched. Nathan Beattie and Nic Quigg are star midfielders, and having all three on the park together will make us formidable in the middle. “Nathan Fowler is a true heart and soul player and a key presence up forward. We also can’t wait to see Huwy running out again in 2026. “While we’re out of finals contention this year, we’re focused on finishing the season strong and look forward to announcing more re-signings in the coming weeks.”
