It proved a difficult first term with Seymour trailing at the break before they flicked the switch and dominated the remainder of the game. Back to back four goal quarters through the middle of the game put the Lions in an unbeatable position at three quarter time, allowing the boys to wrap up a great win away from home. Sam Fuhrmeister stood above the rest to finish best on ground, taking crucial intercept and contested marks all day to provide drive from the defensive end. Cooper Lubeck and Regan Gardner were superb through the middle of the ground as Joel Durham continued his strong form in the ruck. In the forward line, Jack Radford kicked another bag of 5 goals, to see him sitting in a comfortable position atop the Reserves GVL goalkickers table. A slow start in the first quarter saw the Lions give up a three goal advantage, one they worked hard at pegging back through the middle quarters. Despite dominating play in the third quarter, with 9 scoring shots to 3, some inaccurate kicking cost the Lions a chance to have their noses in front going into the final term. Echuca proved too good in the last, running over the top to claim the win. Nathan Beattie, Jack Murphy and James Wooster remained consistent, winning plenty of ball through the middle of the ground, while Lewis Lubeck worked up the field and played a strong game in his 50th for the club. Darcy Giles provided tremendous pressure around the ball, showing fantastic work rate. The Lions get the chance to put their best foot forward against the undefeated Kyabram at home this weekend. The girls have worked hard on maintaining their consistency throughout full games. Sienna Lynch fed the ball into the ring all day, earning her the match award. Eva Hay took on feedback and implemented changes with great impact, shutting down Echuca’s WA who was a primary influence in their attacking end. Plenty of positives to take from the game. Trawool Shed - Cafe, Cottages & Restaurant UNDER 17s Seymour 38 def by Echuca 46 Paige Cooper was crucial in today’s game. Paige took some amazing intercepts and rebounded well. Taylah Mason had a tough three quarters in centre, running the middle of the court. Taylah set the pace and applied great pressure. Sophie Butterworth’s work ethic in the circle was sensational, creating great space and shooting beautifully. O’SULLIVAN BUILDERS B RESERVE Seymour 55 def Echuca 31 Chloe Locke dominated, hunting the ball with precision timing. Her team was able to capitalise and put scoreboard pressure on early. The team’s patience and decision making was consistent. The changes to the line up during the game were adapted to well with the team able to try different structuring and build confidence as a group. Casey Drummond and Grace Barry led through the midcourt, giving energy and grunt for the Lions. Seymour Hardware Group B GRADE Seymour 56 def Echuca 40 The Lions were nice and clean all over the court which allowed the girls to get up by a comfortable 16 goals. The entire team provided strong, full court, defensive pressure with all defensive work amazing. With the Lions working hard all game it was a well deserved win. Beer Auto Group Seymour A GRADE Seymour 60 def Echuca 49 The sun finally came out for the A Grade game, ready for a great game of netball. The first quarter was goal for goal, with both sides showing intensity around the court. The third quarter was a blinder for the Lions, shooting 18 goals, setting up the last quarter run home. Ruby Martin proved unstoppable in GK, pulling in multiple intercepts. Great win for the Lions.
