O'Keefe's IGA Seymour Reserves

Seymour 8.4.52 v Kyabram 9.7.61

For the Reserves it was a similar story to the Seniors. A surge late in the game was not quite enough to get them over the line in another tight contest.

The Lions found themselves the best part of three goals down at half time before kicking five goals straight in the third to set up a nail-biting final quarter.

The boys pushed to the final siren in what was another great battle with Kyabram.

Julian Morgan worked hard across the ground, finding plenty of the ball and kicking three majors.

Sam Fuhrmeister continued his consistent start to the season in defence in his 50th game for the Lions.

Through the middle Will Laird and Ishaq Ali are going from strength to strength, well supported by Jaxon Lantzke in the ruck who also kicked a goal for the highlights reel.

Best: J Morgan, J Lantzke, S Fuhrmeister, I Ali, W Laird

Goals: J Morgan 3, A Elliott 2, O Lubeck 2, J Lantzke 1

Seymour Club Seniors

Seymour 12.8.80 - Kyabram 13.8.86

The Lions fought back hard in what was a gripping encounter against the Bombers but unfortunately ended up going down by a goal.

A rapid start from Kyabram saw them take a 39-point lead into quarter time, courtesy of a seven goal opening term.

The contest evened up in the next two quarters as the Lions worked to get back into the game, setting up a huge last quarter. Dave Mundy kicked two in a row to get the boys up and about heading into the break.

While the Lions put everything on the line in the final term, kicking four unanswered goals, they just couldn’t quite get another major to even up the contest.

Lachlan Waite continued his strong form in the defensive end, racking up intercept possessions and keeping the Lions in the contest early.

Nathan Beattie and Jack Murphy remained prolific around the contest, well supported by David Mundy in his return and Jay Eager who lifted in the ruck in the final quarter to push the Lions forward.

Next week it’s off to Mooroopna to try and get back on the winner’s list.

Best: L Waite, J Murphy, N Beattie, D Mundy, J Eager

Goals: L Lubeck 3, N Fowler 2, R Mason 2, D Mundy 2, N Beattie 1, R Schraven 1, D Scopel 1

Seymour FNC News

By Mitch Itter June 22, 2026
The Seymour Football Netball Club (SFNC) will celebrate a significant milestone this weekend, with Senior Co-Coach and Captain Jack Murphy set to play his 150th senior game for the Lions. Since making his senior debut in 2015, Murphy has established himself as one of the premier players in the Goulburn Valley League. Over the past decade, Murphy has built an outstanding football resume. A dual Senior Best & Fairest winner, GVL Interleague representative, League MVP and former Coburg VFL player, he has consistently performed at an elite level while representing the Lions with distinction. While his individual achievements are impressive, Murphy's influence extends far beyond the football field. Renowned for his professionalism, work ethic and commitment to the club, he has played a significant role in driving standards and helping develop the next generation of Lions players. Now serving as Senior Co-Coach, Murphy continues to lead from the front each week and remains one of the competition's most influential midfielders. SFNC President Peter Elliott said Murphy's contribution to the Lions over the past 11 seasons has been remarkable. “Murph has been an outstanding servant of our football club and thoroughly deserves this recognition,” Mr Elliott said. “His achievements on the field are exceptional, but it's the way he goes about it that sets him apart. “He's one of the hardest workers at the club, a fantastic leader and someone who is so passionate about the success of the Seymour Lions. “He's represented our club with distinction throughout his career and continues to set the standard both as a player and coach. “To reach 150 senior games is a fantastic achievement and one that both Murph and everyone associated with the club should be proud of. “We're incredibly fortunate to have had Murph at Seymour for so long and look forward to seeing him continue to make an impact in the years ahead.”
