O’SULLIVAN BUILDERS B RESERVE Seymour 36 def by Euroa 45 A super effort from the Lions. They fought to the end in a very contested game. Shona Gesler was steady as always in goals and Mia Allen entered the game with energy. Chloe Locke asserted her dominance at both ends of the court and the team put in an effort they should be proud of. Euroa were too strong in terribly wet conditions. Seymour Hardware Group B GRADE Seymour 51 def Swans 37 The first quarter was goal for goal, with the Lions holding strong to stay in touch. We applied full court pressure leading to multiple turnovers, allowing us to bring the ball to our shooters. Our defence was solid with Toni Bootland getting her hands on everything. It was a great game to watch. The girls were super and played for each other. Well done Beer Auto Group Seymour A GRADE Seymour 32 def by Bears 42 The Lions had a strong first quarter, playing strategically. Ruby Martin and Sarah Szczykulski applied all the pressure defensively, keeping their opponents out of the game early. Ellie Fuhrmeister and Ally Black worked well to create movement in the goals. Lucy Zotti was a workhorse in the middle of the court but the Lions weren’t able to stay with the Bears late in the game. The girls have another chance next week to make it into the Grand Final.
O'Keefe's IGA Seymour Reserves Seymour 9.6.60 def by Kyabram 11.9.75 It was always going to be a tough test for the Lions against the top of the table Kyabram but the boys were in the hunt early. Kyabram took advantage in the first before going into halftime with the scores dead even. It was in the third that Kyabram was able to break away, kicking five goals to Seymour’s three and leaving the Lions with plenty of work to do in the final term. While Seymour fought back the third term burst from Kyabram proved decisive in the final result. Sam Fuhrmeister fought hard down back and was well supported by Alex Elliott who played a strong game, using his height and marking ability to his advantage. Jack Davey provided a spark from centre half-forward, coming up at the ball strongly and being a target all day. Through the middle, young guns Dylan Davis and Curtis Powell were relentless in their pursuit of the footy. The Lions secured the double chance last week so will have another crack at a Grand Final berth on Sunday. Trawool Shed - Cafe, Cottages & Restaurant UNDER 17s Seymour 21 def by Mooroopna 40 Paige Cooper worked hard in the defensive end today, fighting for every ball. Paige had some crucial turnovers and was a great leader out on court. Taylah Mason brought a lot of intensity into today’s game. Her drives were hard and she took a crack at every loose ball. Kyra Pearce had a tough role today in shutting down her player. Kyra worked hard all game and provided great pressure. The loss means the end of the season but we’re so proud of our Under 17s. They have worked so hard and their efforts are not in question. The 17s are keen to come back strong next season. O’SULLIVAN BUILDERS B RESERVE Seymour 45 def United 36 The lions fired early with the whole team’s defensive pressure keeping United to 6 goals in the first quarter, United unable to score in the first 8 minutes of the game. Layne Lewis and grace Barry were steady in the midcourt providing opportunities for the lions. They fed beautifully into the goal circle and led their team to the win. Defensively Ruby Trimble came out with urgency. Starting the game in GK then shifting to WD to run the ball into the attack line. She was outstanding. The team adapted well to changes and kept using variety in order to secure the win. Seymour Hardware Group B GRADE Seymour 41 def by Euroa 42 We started strong and held our space, while being strong in defence. Unfortunately, we were unable to maintain the momentum which saw us struggling at times. Euroa are tough opponents and the girls will regroup and go again. Beer Auto Group Seymour A GRADE Seymour 66 def Swans 47 Seymour delivered a commanding performance in their elimination final #1 against Swans, taking control early with a dominant first half. Rosie fed the goalers beautifully, with both shooters sharing the load-each scoring 33 goals with impressive accuracy. Defensively, Seymour applied constant pressure, forcing Swans into errors and creating turnovers. Ally Black was key, using her speed and ball smarts to set up plays, while Chloe Butterworth made a brief but exciting A-grade debut. Swans' goalers were accurate, limiting rebounds, but Seymour adjusted in the second half and maintained control to secure the win. A clinical performance from start to finish, sending Seymour into the next round of finals.
