O'Keefe's IGA Seymour Reserves

Seymour 10.8.68 v Euroa 6.4.40

The Reserves were eager to get back on the winner’s list and stormed out of the blocks with four first quarter goals.

The Lions faithful were delighted to see Ben Cooney play his first game for the season after a foot injury in the preseason. He wasted no time getting in the scoreboard with two goals in the first five minutes and four for the day.

The game evened up in the second and third quarters with the Lions digging deep in the last to put the game out of reach for Euroa.

Julian Morgan continued his strong form up forward with another three goals with Nick Dundon leading the way across the ground, providing plenty of run and carry.

Sam Thomson played another solid game and Scott McMaster is showing plenty of form through the midfield.

The tall timber also played a crucial role with Alex Elliott and Ollie Lubeck both featuring in the best.

Seymour Club Seniors

Seymour 9.12.66 v Euroa 11.10.76

They're always big matches between Euroa and Seymour and this was no different.

The Magpies came out strongly in the first quarter with six goals, leaving the Lions with plenty of work to do.

While the Lions dominated play in the second quarter, some inaccurate kicking meant Euroa’s lead largely remained heading into half time before extending their lead by two goals at the final break.

The last quarter saw a much improved effort from the Lions, bringing the deficit under two goals before they ran out of time to make up for a slow start.

It was great to have Tom Maloney back from injury, putting in a typically dominant performance.

Nathan Beattie and Jack Murphy continued their solid midfield form on Murph’s birthday while Tom Martin and Nathan Fowler showed determination, playing important roles at either end of the ground.

Off to Deakin next week to get back on the winner’s list.

Goals: R Mason 2, C Lubeck 2, J Murphy 1, R Schraven 1, N Fowler 1, M McLean 1, C Thomson 1

Seymour FNC News

By Mitch Itter June 22, 2026
The Seymour Football Netball Club (SFNC) will celebrate a significant milestone this weekend, with Senior Co-Coach and Captain Jack Murphy set to play his 150th senior game for the Lions. Since making his senior debut in 2015, Murphy has established himself as one of the premier players in the Goulburn Valley League. Over the past decade, Murphy has built an outstanding football resume. A dual Senior Best & Fairest winner, GVL Interleague representative, League MVP and former Coburg VFL player, he has consistently performed at an elite level while representing the Lions with distinction. While his individual achievements are impressive, Murphy's influence extends far beyond the football field. Renowned for his professionalism, work ethic and commitment to the club, he has played a significant role in driving standards and helping develop the next generation of Lions players. Now serving as Senior Co-Coach, Murphy continues to lead from the front each week and remains one of the competition's most influential midfielders. SFNC President Peter Elliott said Murphy's contribution to the Lions over the past 11 seasons has been remarkable. “Murph has been an outstanding servant of our football club and thoroughly deserves this recognition,” Mr Elliott said. “His achievements on the field are exceptional, but it's the way he goes about it that sets him apart. “He's one of the hardest workers at the club, a fantastic leader and someone who is so passionate about the success of the Seymour Lions. “He's represented our club with distinction throughout his career and continues to set the standard both as a player and coach. “To reach 150 senior games is a fantastic achievement and one that both Murph and everyone associated with the club should be proud of. “We're incredibly fortunate to have had Murph at Seymour for so long and look forward to seeing him continue to make an impact in the years ahead.”
